Meet Jenn
Executive Communication Coach for Global Tech Founders & Teams
I help tech founders and business leaders communicate clearly, confidently, even when English isn’t their first language.
I’m Jenn Krentz, an executive communication coach based in Calgary, Canada. I specialize in helping non-native English-speaking tech founders build investor-ready pitches and deliver them with clarity in high-stakes situations.
If you’re building a company in North American markets but operating in your second or third language, you already know this truth:
Understanding your business isn’t the hard part. Explaining it clearly under pressure is.
That’s where I come in.
Why This Work Is Personal (And Why It Works)
I didn’t start out as a pitch coach.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, where I studied storytelling, voice, presence, and performance long before I ever touched a pitch deck. Theatre taught me something most business training ignores: what you say matters, but how you say it determines whether people believe you.
After university, I trained in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and spent several years living and working abroad, teaching English in South Korea and Thailand. When I returned to Canada, I spent nine years working within the Government of Canada’s LINC program, teaching workplace and professional communication to adult newcomers across industries and cultures.
Those experiences permanently shaped how I approach communication.
Over the years, I’ve worked with professionals across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and North America, helping them navigate cross-cultural communication in real business environments. And I noticed the same pattern again and again: The best ideas don’t always win. The best-communicated ideas do.
I saw brilliant founders with game-changing products struggle to raise capital—not because their businesses weren’t viable, but because they couldn’t explain their value clearly in their non-native language. Technical founders who could build extraordinary technology but froze when asked to pitch it. CEOs building businesses in English for the first time who were passed over because language barriers quietly undermined their credibility.
That didn’t sit right with me.
So I focused on the intersection where I could make the biggest impact: helping non-native English-speaking tech founders communicate with clarity and credibility in North American business contexts.
Over the past 3+ years, I’ve coached global founders through high-stakes communication moments. I’ve designed and delivered specialized courses and curriculum focused on this exact challenge because nothing like it existed.
My clients have stepped into leadership roles with confidence, expanded from regional to national operations, raised capital, and navigated acquisitions by learning to communicate with clarity, confidence, and authenticity in English.
What Makes My Approach Different
I'm not a generic pitch coach or public speaking trainer. I don't give you templates and wish you luck. I don't tell you to "just be confident" or "practice in front of a mirror." And I absolutely don't try to erase your accent or make you sound like a native speaker.
Here’s what we do instead:
I Build With You, Not For You- When we work together on your investor pitch, we go slide-by-slide through your deck. I teach you what information belongs on each slide, how to structure it for clarity, and exactly what to say and how to say it when you're presenting it. You don't just get feedback, you get education. By the end, you understand WHY your pitch works, not just THAT it works.
I Speak Startup and I understand tech businesses- I know what TAM/SAM/SOM means. I can talk about unit economics, product-market fit, and go-to-market strategy without needing it explained. This matters because you're not spending session time teaching me your industry. Instead we can focus entirely on helping YOU communicate it better.
I Understand ELL Challenges (Because I've Worked With Them for Years)- I know that:
Your accent isn't the problem (clarity is)
Grammar and pronunciation mistakes undermine credibility even when the content is solid
Cultural communication styles differ (Latin American directness vs. North American storytelling)
Confidence in your second language takes practice, not just willpower
Explaining technical concepts simply is hard in ANY language, but harder in your non-native one
I've spent years developing methods specifically for non-native English speakers. I know how to help you improve without making you feel judged or inadequate.
4. I'm Direct, Practical, and Results-Driven-I don't sugarcoat feedback. If something isn't working, I'll tell you, and then I'll show you exactly how to fix it. You won't get vague advice like "be more engaging." You'll get specific, timestamped recommendations: "At slide 4, slow down here. Replace this word with this one. Try this phrasing instead."
My clients appreciate that I don't waste their time. We focus on what actually moves the needle for your business.
My Background:
Before specializing in startup communication, I spent nearly two decades in learning and development, corporate training, and instructional design.
I've:
Designed and delivered training programs for global teams
Coached executives on presentation skills and leadership communication
Developed curriculum for cross-cultural business communication
Worked with non-native English speakers across multiple industries
Built learning programs from scratch based on real business needs
This L&D background shows up in how I work with founders:
Curriculum design: My programs are structured with clear learning outcomes, not random coaching sessions
Adult learning principles: I know how people actually learn new skills (practice, feedback, iteration, not just theory)
Cultural competency: I've trained international teams and understand how to adapt communication across cultures
Business alignment: I always tie communication skills back to business outcomes (fundraising, sales, team leadership)
When I transitioned to coaching startup founders full-time, I brought all of this experience with me.
I'm not just a coach. I'm an educator who understands how to help people master complex skills quickly.
My Professional Background (At a Glance)
Bachelor of Arts (Major-Drama, Minor-English)
TESOL Diploma training
International teaching experience in South Korea and Thailand
17+ years in Learning & Development and corporate training
Nine years as a Government of Canada LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers) instructor
Extensive work in corporate training and instructional design
Executive communication coach for tech founders and leaders
Extensive experience with ESL and global teams
Who I Work With (And Who I Don’t)
I'm a Great Fit If You:
Are a tech startup founder raising $500K+ (Seed to Series B)
Use English in your business but it's your second or third language
Have high-intermediate to advanced English (B2-C1 level)
Need to pitch to North American investors or operate in North American markets
Want direct, honest feedback (not just encouragement)
Are willing to practice and do the work between sessions
Take communication seriously as a business skill, not just a "nice to have"
I'm NOT a Fit If You:
Are pre-seed with no funding and limited budget (my digital products launching soon will serve you better)
Want someone to write your pitch for you (I coach you to develop it yourself)
Aren't willing to practice or implement feedback
Are just casually exploring options
Need beginner-level English instruction (I work with intermediate-advanced speakers)
I'm selective about who I work with because I want to ensure you get real results. If we're not a fit, I'll tell you honestly and point you toward better resources.
What My Clients Say
"Before working with Jenn, English was holding us back from expanding beyond Quebec. After her coaching, we now run operations coast to coast across Canada. We've 10X'd our addressable market. The ROI has been incredible." — Co-Founders, Pre-Seed SaaS Startup, Quebec → National Expansion
Two years ago, I struggled to explain my business clearly.
“Our product is technically complex, and when I pitched investors, updated our board, or presented to clients, I often lost people in the details. I knew I was overcomplicating things, but I didn’t know how to simplify without dumbing down what made our technology valuable. Working with Jenn changed that. She taught me how to communicate complexity with clarity. I can now explain our technology so people actually understand it, and the way I present finally feels authentic. I’m not performing or trying to sound like someone else. I’m confident, prepared, and able to have real conversations instead of delivering rehearsed pitches. Those skills transferred far beyond fundraising. I use them in board meetings, co-founder discussions, and client presentations, and we’re closing bigger deals as a result. I’ve worked with Jenn for nearly two years because every stage of growth brings new communication challenges. As we prepare for Series B, I’m not worried about my pitch. I’m confident in myself, and that has changed everything.” — Tech Founder, Brazil, Series A Preparing for Series B
"We came to Jenn preparing to pitch investors for pre-seed funding. Through her coaching, we learned to communicate our value so clearly that we attracted acquisition interest instead. Her coaching helped us navigate those conversations confidently and close the deal." — Tech Founder, Pre-Seed Stage, Columbia, Successfully Acquired
"I started M&A coaching with Jenn thinking I'd be selling my business. The confidence and communication skills I developed completely changed my negotiating position. Instead of being acquired, I ended up acquiring another company. Jenn taught me how to communicate like someone who belongs in the buyer's seat." — CEO, Peru, M&A Transaction
"I started working with Jenn because I was invited to speak on panels around the world and I wasn't comfortable on stage. As a non-native English speaker, I struggled with confidence, especially in front of large audiences. What I didn't expect was how much the communication skills I learned would impact every other part of my life. I presented at events across multiple countries and actually enjoyed it instead of dreading it. But the real transformation happened everywhere else: My co-founder told me I could finally explain myself clearly. Before, I knew what I meant but couldn't articulate it. Now I communicate my vision in a way my team actually understands and can execute on. My wife noticed the change in my confidence. Not just on stage, but in how I carry myself, how I handle difficult conversations, how I show up at home. My team commented on how our daily meetings completely changed. I was clearer, more organized, more engaging. They could actually follow my thinking instead of guessing what I meant. I came to Jenn for panel speaking skills. What I got was a complete transformation in how I communicate as a leader, a partner, and a person. Five years into building my business, this was one of the best investments I've made."— CEO Bootstrapped Founder, Lima, Peru

My Approach to Learning & Development
My approach to learning and development is grounded in one principle: training should change behavior, not just transfer information.
I don’t design programs around theory for theory’s sake. I design human-led learning experiences that hold up under real-world pressure, whether that’s pitching investors, leading a board meeting, or navigating cross-cultural client interactions.
That means I don’t believe in:
Generic “tips and tricks” that collapse once learners return to their jobs
Slide-heavy sessions that prioritize information over application
One-size-fits-all programs that ignore context, culture, or skill level
Training that isn’t tied to measurable business outcomes
What I do believe in:
Practice with real materials, not hypothetical examples
Immediate, actionable feedback so learners can adjust in the moment
Deliberate practice and iteration, not one-and-done workshops
Customization based on role, industry, audience, and goals
Transferable skills that show up in meetings, presentations, and decision-making long after the training ends
Cross-cultural and multilingual awareness, helping learners communicate clearly and confidently in diverse, global environments
Whether I’m coaching a founder 1:1, leading a corporate workshop, or designing a cohort program, my focus is the same: practical application, measurable improvement, and skills that scale with the learner’s responsibilities.
Why Calgary? Why Remote?
I’m based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, but I work remotely with clients worldwide.
Calgary gives me:
A North American business perspective (critical for founders pitching to US/Canadian investors)
Understanding of Canadian, US, and LATAM startup ecosystems
Time zone flexibility for working with Latin American, European, and North American clients
Working remotely means:
You get the same quality of coaching whether you're in São Paulo, Mexico City, Toronto, or San Francisco
Sessions are recorded so you can review feedback anytime
We can work together regardless of your location
Most of my clients have never met me in person, and that's perfectly fine. The work we do together happens on Zoom, in Google Docs, and over WhatsApp. Distance doesn't diminish results.
What I’m Building
Making Communication Coaching Accessible
Right now, I work 1:1 with a limited number of founders each quarter through my Deck Delivery Mastery program. But I know not everyone is ready for intensive coaching, and that's okay.
I'm building additional resources so you can get help at whatever level fits your budget:
Coming in 2026:
Digital products (templates, guides, scripts) for $27-$197
Quick-turn audits for founders who need expert feedback fast ($497-$997)
Self-paced courses covering pitch development and delivery ($497)
Group coaching cohorts for founders who want community + expert guidance ($997)
My goal is to make expert communication coaching accessible to founders at every stage and budget—from pre-seed bootstrappers to Series B-funded companies.

A Few Personal Things
When I'm not coaching founders or designing curriculum:
I'm probably reading or learning about the latest developments in tech, startup ecosystems, or communication psychology
I'm figuring out how to simplify complex ideas (it's basically my favorite puzzle)
I'm thinking about how technology changes the way we communicate (for better and worse)
I'm a parent, a lifelong learner, and someone who genuinely believes that clear communication unlocks opportunities that change lives.
If you've read this far, you probably care about communication too. Let's talk.
